Ed Nieto believes National City deserves accountable, transparent leadership that delivers real results.

After years of seeing challenges—from public safety to city services, Ed knows residents need a leader who listens and acts.

A lifelong National City resident, Ed has spent all 62 years of his life here. He attended El Toyon Elementary, National City Junior High, and Sweetwater High School (Class of ’74). He went on to earn his accounting degree from San Diego State University. For over 39 years, he worked in governmental accounting, focusing on municipal finance and ensuring public funds are used wisely.

Ed and his wife Nancy each come from different cultural communities—Ed is Latino, and Nancy is Filipino—together, they reflect the rich diversity of this district. Through their family’s shared experiences, they understand how every neighborhood brings unique strength.

Ed is committed to leadership that listens, includes, and ensures every voice—whether Latino, Filipino, or any background—has a seat at the table. With a common-sense approach, he will work to make sure every family, every culture, and every part of National City thrives.
